Free Leadership Development Programme delivered by TIDES Training


This course is open to individuals from across the Southern Cluster with either proven existing interest in constructive Community Leadership or have identified potential and interest in constructive Community Leadership and can commit to and complete this intensive 4 day Leadership Development Programme.  The programme supports and builds the level of confidence in community leaders and champions; enhances local networking and collaborative problem solving.  Details of the modules are outlined below.

Module 1  Understanding Leadership

Day 1

  • Understanding what we mean by Leadership
  • Exploring Leadership Styles
  • Problem Solving Exercises
  • Team Role Analysis
  • Personal Skills Inventory
  • Leadership through success and failure


Day 2

  • Exploring Organisation Culture
  • Leadership in Action
  • Small Group Reflection
  • Lessons learned
  • Overview of 10 Characteristics of Effective Leadership
  • Bringing it home: What we are facing? Where we are going?  What we need to do to make a positive change

 Module 2 Leadership in Action

Day 1

  • Personal presentations of issue maps and pillars
  • Exploring the Leadership for Sustainable Change module
  • Developing a Shared mental Model of Success
  • Exploring Strategies for Change & overcoming inertia
  • Exploring Backcasting & Time Lines
  • Personal Skills Inventory

Day 2

  • Group or Individual Leadership Development Initiatives?
  • Who, What, Where, When and How Planning: Backcasting
  • Using mentoring support and group support systems
  • Timelines for implementation and feedback
  • Review & close
