Delivery Agent: Banbridge District Council
Priority aim:
- To provide a stepping stone for those individuals and communities which are not yet ready to engage in themes such as Good Relations Forums for example.
- To increase the role and contribution local communities can make in the discussion and determination of how services and other activities which directly impact on their areas are put in place and delivered.
Priority objectives:
- To facilitate increased community engagement activity with groups / areas not currently engaged in local processes and structures that may influence how decisions are made and services are delivered
- To enhance the skills of a minimum of 64 individuals from the community to engage in local processes and structures that may influence how decisions are made and services are delivered
- To develop the capacity and confidence of a minimum of 16 community groups to better engage in local processes and structures that may influence how decisions are made and services are delivered
- To increase opportunities in each Council area for structured community engagement with all statutory bodies
Activities:
- Pilot 4 community engagement initiatives either thematically or geographically
- Development of a community engagement leadership and capacity building programme
- Mentoring support programme for local community groups
- Support for formalised mechanisms for interagency meetings with local communities
