The Southern PEACE III Partnership

Armagh, Banbridge, Craigavon and Newry and Mourne Councils have come together to deliver Phase 2 of Measure 1.1, ‘Building Positive Relations at a Local Level’.  The lead council, Newry and Mourne District Council, will oversee the delivery of the programme.

The PEACE III Southern Partnership Peace and Reconciliation Action Plan Phase 2 (2011 – 2013) follows on from PEACE III Phase 1 (2008 – 2010) with just over £4.8 million for the Southern Cluster area, which is part financed by the European Unions PEACE III Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body.

Building Positive Relations ata Local Level

 

The broad aims and objectives for the Phase 2 Action Plan have been developed from the key issues and needs of the Southern Partnership area and are aligned to the overarching aims of the Reconciling Communities: Building Positive Relations at a Local Level:

  • Challenge attitudes towards sectarianism and racism and to support conflict resolution and mediation at the Local Community Level; and
  • Establish meaningful cross community and cross border ititiatives that will provide trust and tolerance and reduct levels of sectarianism and racism.

The Southern PEACE III Partnership has developed a strategic Southern Partnership Peace III Phase II  Action Plan and Executive Summary for the period 2011 – 2013.
